Scott Adams: “Goals Are For Losers; Passion is Overrated”

by Hans|Published July 6, 2016

Dilbert cartoonist turned political commentator, Scott Adams, shares his unconventional creative wisdom in this fascinating keynote address at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

You’ll find Adams’ latest blog posts in my blog roll. And if you don’t like his talk, you probably won’t appreciate his book: How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big.

AUTHOR

Hans
Hans G. Schantz is the Principal Scientist of Geeks and Nerds Corporation (GaN). He was co-founder and CTO of Q-Track Corporation until GaN's acquisition of Q-Track in 2019. Co-inventor of NFER indoor location technology, he has more than 40 U.S. patents to his credit. He is the author of The Art and Science of Ultrawideband Antennas, The Biographies of John Charles Fremont, and the science fiction thriller, The Hidden Truth, available free through Kindle Unlimited. The sequel, A Rambling Wreck, was a finalist for the Conservative Libertarian Fiction Alliance 2018 Book of the Year, and third in the series is The Brave and the Bold. His latest work is The Wise of Heart, an illustrated courtroom drama of biological science versus transgenderism that updates the Scopes Monkey Trial for the twenty-first century. Dr. Schantz earned his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Texas at Austin, and explains his unique solution to wave particle duality at the Fields & Energy Substack.

He wanted to test the new Gender Awareness in Academia (GAIA) Act, but high-school biology teacher, Mike Andrews got more than he bargained for.

Arrested and thrown in jail for the crime of teaching the biology of sex determination and for refusing to affirm a student’s gender identity, Mike faces a show trial amid a media circus. Who can he trust?

The school superintendent who set him up?
His defense attorney who shares a secret history with the prosecutor?
His girlfriend who may not have his best interests in mind?
Her mother who is out to destroy him?

Mike will have to learn that winning the game sometimes requires writing your own rules, and success comes only to the Wise of Heart.

Is electromagnetism due to one thing: a photon which is somehow simultaneously a localized point particle and a non-localized wave? Or is it two different yet complimentary things: non-local fields
guiding localized energy?

Scientist, inventor, and author, Hans G. Schantz draws upon a wealth of historical analysis, emerging discoveries, and his own original research to argue that electromagnetism requires a dualistic interpretation: that fields and energy are two different phenomena that follow different paths.

This perspective resolves a host of outstanding puzzles and paradoxes including radiation reaction, wave-particle duality, and "vacuum" energy. The Correspondence Principle demands quantum mechanics must agree with classical electromagnetic results. These emerging results lead quantum mechanics toward the long-neglected pilot-wave interpretation and toward the physical reality of what Einstein called "gespensterfeld" or "ghost fields."

Science Fiction:

“…Dr. Schantz (he’s a physicist), has given us the best science fiction techno-thriller since whatever Neil Stephenson’s last book was.”
-Ken Holder,

“This is really such an original series of books that it’s hard to describe it properly. Like Da Vinci Code meets Harry Potter meets Cryptonomicon by way of Michael Crichton. The author really knows his science and tech AND can spin a fantastic tale.”
Book Horde

“Reads like the best of Michael Crichton’s or Neal Stephenson’s sci-fi thrillers. I couldn’t put it down.”

–Russell Newquist, author of the supernatural thriller War Demons
