Here are a few RTLS and RFID news updates…
- Here’s a great article in xconomy|Boston on RFID innovator, ThingMagic. ThingMagic co-founder, Matt Reynolds, was one of the first to consider using low frequency signals for indoor location. He’s now a professor at Duke University pursuing an interesting line of research devising energy harvesting wireless devices.
- TRX Systems has a new blog. I found this post particularly interesting.
- Italian specialist RFID company Eximia, has been awarded the RFID Award 2010 for Innovation, for their Meerkat personnel safety monitoring system. Meerkat is based on the award-winning Ubisense solution. Also, Adrian Jennings, formerly with Time Domain, has joined Ubisense as VP for RTLS. Jennings commented on his decision a couple of weeks ago here on ÆtherCzar.
- GloPos offers a cellular phone based location system. “With filtering, the indoor accuracy of GloPos technology is as good as the outdoor accuracy in an urban environment with a normal GPS embedded in mobile phones,” the company claims.
- Finally, InvisiTrack claims their system (using UHF TV frequency active devices) provides 3m accurate tracking indoors without the aid of any infrastructure.
