Lone Star (1996) Drama 135 min.
Dir: John Sayles. Stars: Chris Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, Kris Kristofferson, Elizabeth Pena.
Blurb: The sheriff of a small Texas border county (Cooper) tries to solve a decades old murder in which his father and predecessor as sherriff (McConaughey) is the prime suspect.
Comments: Presents an intriguing mystery set amid a detailed and colorful portrait of the residents of a small town. The thing I love so much about this film is how well integrated it is. There are a half dozen subplots all woven together – all showing the power of individual choice to carve out one’s own destiny.
