Cold Comfort Farm (1995) Comedy 104 min.
Dir: John Schlessinger Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley, Ian McKellen, Rufus Sewel
Blurb: An orphaned young woman (Beckinsale) seeking material for a novel moves in with eccentric country cousins and seeks to transform their lives.
Comments: A hilarious parody of gothic romances that gains its power from Beckinsale’s matter-of-fact portrayal of a “can-do” heroine. The supporting cast is absolutely incredible with their dead-pan wackiness. This is a quirky film that may not appeal to all tastes.
